The Cycling Subgroup offers all kinds of rides : Leisure to Professional eg: Off road tracks across the hills to places like Khanpur Dam, Taxila, the old Murree road etc. and in and around Islamabad itself, to enjoy the lush greenery and fascinating landscapes. The Sub Group occasionally coordinates with other similar interest groups based in Islamabad eg: The Critical Mass Cycling Group.

Riding at night gives a whole new perspective to the city, so step out and become part of the scene- an experience not to be missed...and for those of you interested in 'Comparative Cultures' coupled with a bit of adventure, this is an opportunity for you to join in on our very special ‘Pre- Sehri’ ride!
‘Ramzan/Ramadan’ is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting , reflection and community. The annual observance of ‘Ramzan/Ramadan’ is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam[ and lasts twenty-nine to thirty days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next. Fasting from dawn to sunset is considered obligatory for all adult Muslims who are not acutely or chronically ill, travelling, elderly etc.
The predawn meal is referred to as ‘Sehri' and the evening meal that breaks the fast is called ‘Iftari'. Both periods are characterised by hustle and bustle. Homes & markets are a buzz with activilty and festivity!
For the more adventurous amongst you, we can even stop for a 'Sehri' break at a suitable place!

Set in the heart of Islamabad is one of the oldest villages of Pakistan... said to be more than five hundred years old , it is known for its rich heritage, culture, history and folklore. It is home to a Mosque, a Sikh Gurdwara and a small 16th century temple called "Rama Mandir" or "Ram Kund Temple", dedicated to Hindu God Rama . Now a bustling village catering to local cuisines, it has become a prime tourist hub...
A charming little cafe 'Sada Bahaar'. has opened up in the Behbud complex.Stop by for some refreshments on the way back!
It is an easy ride for everyone to join and it’s on the road so all kinds of bicycle can join. Please do observe Covid SOP's.

Cycling - AN EARLY MORNING RIDE TO SHAKARPARIAN

Join us for an invigorating early morning excursion!
Shakarparian is located in the National park area located near the Zero Point Interchange in Islamabad. At a height of 609 meters, the terraced gardens offer pleasant and sweeping vistas of Margalla and Murree hills, Rawal Lake,Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The famous Pakistan Monument and Pakistan Monument Museum are also located here.
Before Indo-Pak partition in1947,what is now known as Shakarparian was once the 'Gakhar' tribes land holdings. The clan was relocated to create a park for newly marked federal capital of the country in 1960-61.
Those returning during the ride please inform the coordinators.
It is an easy ride and is on the road so all types of bicycles can join!

Taxila (meaning "City of Cut Stone") is an important archaeological site of ancient India, located in Taxila city, Rawalpindi District of the Punjab, Pakistan, situated about 32 km (20 mi) north-west of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, just off the famous Grand Trunk Road.
Ancient Taxila was situated at the pivotal junction of the Indian subcontinent and Central Asia. The origin of Taxila as a city, goes back to c. 1000 BCE. Some ruins at Taxila date to the time of the Achaemenid Empire in the 6th century BCE, followed successively by Mauryan Empire, Indo-Greek, Indo-Scythian, and Kushan Empire periods.

Join us for a "three- in- one" ride - starting with easy, moving to medium and then...to the tough one!
We will meet at the Flower market F/6 .Starting from the Islamabad Zoo site, we will cycle to the mid- range stop: Daman-e- Koh and then for the more hardy It is ride to Monal.
It is upto the members as to which which stage they want to turn back or to continue!
For those of you turning back during the ride, please do not forget to nform the coordinators!

Perfect weather to indulge in a ride around the F9 Park!
This is special for all the new comers and children, who want to test the bikes on a relatively easy terrain...since it’s on the road all kinds of bicycles can join!
Route: Bolan Gate (F-10 Side) Parking > Service road East > Jinnah Avenue > 9th Avenue > Margalla Road > Service road East > Back to start or disperse.
Please Note:
- It is an outdoor event but do please observe SOP's.
- Bicycle: Must be fully checked with working brakes! Get your bicycle checked a day before the ride.
- If you need a bicycle it can be rented (Members Rs. 500/- Guests Rs. 750/-) you can collect the bikes directly from AeroCycling (0313-2925478) just show your ASG membership card for special rates!
- Helmets: Strongly advised, for your own safety
- Refreshments: Bring your own/or enjoy the food offerings on the streets!
- Camera/Phone: For preserving your memories!
- Save the number: Of your Ride Coordinator for guidance/assistance regarding route or in case you intend to leave the group halfway during the ride!
